The paper demonstrates Carey's postcolonial discourse and his attempt to give his title character a human voice through his narration of his history to deconstruct the colonial deformed image of the political opponents, who are demonized and represented as outlaws and criminals. Carey's Postcolonial text also explores the colonizers' dehumanization of their subjects and their abuse of power and authority. It investigates Carey's postcolonial rewriting of the history of the Irish outlaw, Ned Kelly, and the character's sense of displacement as an Irish expellee in the New World. This study focuses on True History of the Kelly Gang (2000) by Australian novelist Peter Carey. As a result, they struggled for survival in this new environment and endured different kinds of oppression and racism at the hands of the British colonizers in Australia. They were uprooted from their homeland, and transported to Australia, because of their struggle to achieve independence from the English colonial rule. The Irish nationalist rebels were not an exception. It was also the sit e of many convicts and political exiles since the British first settled on this island/continent. In spite of its status as a Commonwealth and a settler country, Australia is also categorized as a postcolonial nation, since it was a British colony for a long time in history. As previous studies of her works focus on individual novels, this study is an evaluation of her contribution to eco-feminist fiction in three major works: Animals Dream, Prodigal Summer, and Flight Behavior.
Barbra Kingsolver is one of the early pioneers of this emerging fictional subgenre. Through their ecological activism, they endeavor to protect the environment and the planet from the selfish practices of the industrial companies. The eco-feminists believe that their suffering from patriarchal oppression is not different from man’s exploitation of nature. Besides, man's wrong practices even in agricultural matters are exhausting the natural resources of the lands, and they badly affect the ecological diversity and the wellbeing of the humans and non-humans alike. Contemporary feminist writers treat this international crisis as a priority and start to devote their writings to address ecological issues. The smoke that emits from the factories, the pollution caused by the industrial projects, the excessive use of green gas result in the increase of global warming and have catastrophic effects on the ecosphere of the planet.
